When my son Marc was born 31 years ago, the world I was accustomed to changed dramatically. What seemed like out of nowhere, I was faced with the responsibility of shaping and molding this little human being; a real life-eating and shitting machine.
Years later, I got to share my offerings with son #2, Jake, who had the benefit of hearing it from, not only me but, his big brother as well.
Fast forward to present day and my thoughts and ideas that formed the backbone of the Nudelberg way are as much a part of our DNA as the actual cells that make us who we are.
Now, with the addition of my grandson, Kai, I felt like it would only be natural to pass down these sayings and anecdotes that govern the Nudelberg boys to this very day.
Here is our Top 15…..( there a plenty more, just ask us):
When shaking hands grip firmly – leave the fish at the market.
Look everyone in the eye – never trust anyone that doesn’t make eye contact
Act like you belong – fake it till you make it
Life is all about learning how to hit curveballs
Do what you love and the money will follow
Worst thing in life is wasted talent
Never let anyone outside of the family know what you are thinking
A man who doesn’t spend time with his family can never be a real man
It is what it is
Just another day in paradise
Be a great tipper – it always comes back to you
Wear a great watch, have clean shoes, have clean nails, and be well groomed – people notice
If you want a whirlpool, fart in the tub
The bet is always one dollar
Leave the gun, take the cannoli
Once I had written my list, I reached out to both of my boys (which I do every day) and asked them what stuck out to them and, as you may have imagined, the lists were mirror images.
Happy that these are now memorialized to leave for my grandson and all of you.
Have you considered what your guiding principles are? If not, pay attention because someone is.
And that’s what Nudelberg says
